Last year, I had the privilege to go to Elliot lake to visit my grand parents. Elliot Lake is a very quiet and peaceful place, with much more wilderness which is available to enjoy, which is why many people like my grand parents call it their home when they retire.
During my stay I had the opportunity to attend a drumming ceremony where I was able to learn some history of the Native culture. Anyone who knows me very well, knows that I am very much into learning and practicing Native ways and history because I am mixed with Native on my Father's side of the family. Anyways, while I was in this Native group, I was given an amethyst and rose quartz as a gift from one of the elders which really helped me to open up in the ceremony and trust them while describing with my rocky past.
It was incredibly relaxing at Elliot Lake, everyday my grandma and I would go work out on the machines that they had outside and went for walks by the water. It was my favourite place to go whenever I felt down. I would just walk down to the water by myself to an area much like in the first picture and sit on the bench while I listened to the birds and the water while looking at the cliffs, just taking in mother earth.
It was like a dream, so even sometimes when I'm sad or upset, I try to picture being there in the warm sun enjoying every aspect of the wonderful view.
